Looking at cheaper TVs for our upstairs in 75" size w/ budget of <1k. Both Hisense and TCL seem to fit the bill. Any experience with either brand? We have an older TCL that's been ok, but no experience with newer sets.

Picture quality on our Hisense seems great, however some apps are really poor on it, particularly Disney+.
I did notice turning on something random called turbo mode fixed a lot of the issues though.

TCL with Roku all the way. I use them in all my secondary rooms and outside on patio. They work great.
I've had three TCLs and a Hisense.
My Hisense had some issues. Don't have it anymore. Still have the TCLs.

We bought an 85" TCL this summer and it's been great. Less than $1000 at Best Buy. Use a Roku for it.
The federal government was never meant to be this powerful.
This year's hisense mini-led is quite a bit better than similarly priced tcl. Check the ratings on rtings.

I've like my TCLs. One got hit by lightning but other than that, they've looked good and worked well.
We got a 75" Hisense from Costco Direct as part of a larger purchase (saving us $100 on the TV).

TCL is all I buy, great for the price. And they seem to hold up ok...better than my Samsung experiences.
I will say their 4 series is noticeably worse PQ than their higher end models. It's worth sticking to the 6 series.

New TCL 6-Series on my patio has been excellent, though the built-in GoogleTV is slooooow.
Snagged a Sony X90K for the same price!
I have both the hisense Roku and Google versions. Visually, both great. But I prefer the Roku one. Remote response is quicker and I feel like the software runs faster.
But I like the picture on the Hisense much more than the TCL's I compared them to.

I have had both. Currently have 65" Hisense with Roku built in. Has been great and was cheap.
