Trying to see which video cards would be best for my kids current setup....or good enough, he mostly plays FF 14 and CSGo...so nothing to strenuous.

I am using pcpartpicker but I don't know what is good these days vs not. This computer is oldish but I don't want to get him a new one as he should have a job and pay for his own junk.

Here are the specs that matter:

AMD Ryzen 5 2600X 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor

EVGA 600 GD 600 W 80+ Gold Certified ATX Power Supply

What is his current card? If it is a 20+ series you might consider keeping it, picking up a 5800x3d which will extend the system life for a few years and then let him save up to by a new card.

The 2600 is still ok for now but i agree with the above. A newer AM4 cpu will be a great upgrade in the future, just dont focus it for now. There are plenty going on sale for sub $200.

As for gfx, please let us know his current gfx card and a budget.

Also upgrade budget. Might look at a 5600 processor or ram and a card depending on the budget. I'm refreshing my system to give it to my oldest next year and that's something I've planned.

If the OP is anywhere near a micro center he may be able to snag a 5600x3D for 230ish if budget. that extra cache really helps the CPU punch above its weight without having to buy anything else.

better more expensive options 7800xt or 4070

6700xt is a great entry card that will last a long time but is likely overkill. Downside is no DLSS also. For his needs, i would go down to a 3060 instead to get dlss support and save a few bucks (260ish right now) vs a 6700xt (300ish). If dlss is not a big deal, a 6650xt at $219 on newegg/amazon right now, which is slightly faster than a 3060 is a better entry point for his games imo.

I've got an RX6600XT that I'll part with for $150. It is brand new, never used, still in the box. I bought last year when I was going to build a PC for my boys, but decided last minute to go the pre-built route.
