I currently have a dual screen set up with my Dell laptop and docking station. I am thinking about getting a MacBook Air M2. Am I able to use dual screens with HDMI/DP inputs with a MacBook Air? From what reading on online, it appears that the dual screens would only mirror each other without buying special software. What do I need to mimic the current setup I have using a MacBook?

Current Macbook Airs only support 1 external monitor natively. I'm not 100% sure, but i believe you can use a USB DisplayLink adapter to get a 2nd external monitor going.

Assuming you mean two external displays and not your laptop plus another screen, you can do it with a docking station/hub:

Or get one big external display instead of two

I run a MacBook Pro with the M2 Max so using multiple isn't an issue for me but I concur with the guy suggesting getting a bigger monitor. I'm running two 34" ultrawide monitors and it's fantastic. In terms of real estate it's like having four 27" regular monitors. If you want two external consider one like that instead. These are the ones I'm running.

I also wanted to get two monitors, but in the end, I got one, but bigger, and it works for me. I use it for my work and also for gaming from time to time, but mostly for work tasks. In general, I can say that I'm satisfied with the decision I made to buy a monitor and with the decision to buy a Mac. I've been using it for a while and have noticed zero issues. I read more and more info about it, and not that long ago, I came across Setapp's guide, which told me more about system data storage, how to clean it, and so on. I still have enough space on my Mac, but now I know for sure what to do if I run out of storage. I was a little bit worried when I was switching to a Mac, but with all that info, it's easier than ever.

With the right monitors, you can daisy chain them. Thunderbolt cable from MacBook to Display1, then Thunderbolt cable from Display1 to Display2.

Welp new MBA with M3 chip was just released and one of the keynotes is dual screen support, finally. Granted, MBA must remain in clamshell mode to do this.

Just FYI.
