My kids have an oculus & black screen of death. When I plug it in, the meta logo appears followed by the battery symbol showing 100 percent charge, then nothing. I have tried to reboot, but only black screen. When I plug it into charger, light does not come on either. Is it time to toss it?

If it's out of warranty or coverage wherever you got it then yes. For anything like a wearable I do actually recommend the secondary long term coverage if it's getting heavy use from kids.

Did you try a factory reset?

To perform a factory reset using the headset:

  • Turn off your headset.
  • Hold the power and volume (-) button on your headset down simultaneously until the boot screen loads on your headset.
  • Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Factory Reset and press the power button.
  • Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Yes and press the power button.

    I can't even do that. Just black screen

    Good luck, my quest 3 is in an endless USB Update Mode loop. Anything I press just reopens the same menu. Nothing works, not even a factory reset. I'm not the only one according to the internet and there appears to be no solution and support from Meta is virtually non existent. A $700 brick.
