Searched for an existing thread for this but none found, surprisingly. Anyways, MHW has experienced quite a resurgence in recent weeks, at least on PC, with the announcement of the new MH at the Game Awards, as well as some big streamers like Asmongold getting into the game. I picked it back up last few weeks as I never played the Iceborne expansion. The expansion is a lot bigger than I realized.

If you have not tried out a Monster Hunter game before, I would highly recommend trying out World. It is a more "westernized" version of the series, making it more accessible than the previous iterations that were very Japanese/hard core. It is still more hard core than your average western game, but akin on difficulty level to a Souls game.

I played it a bunch on PS4 back when it came out and have popped back in from time to time on my steam deck. I like the newer Rise on Switch/PC a lot, but I do think that MHW with the Iceborne expansion is the more premium experience. One of the best games ever IMO.

If you're not maining a different weapon with every new game, are you really even Monster Huntering?

Pretty sure there is a law that after 500 hours you have to pick Charge Blade with your new game and then endlessly put down other weapons as too simple. I refuse to use that Rubik's cube, Rube Golberg machine, fidget spinner monstrosity

I am a simple man and too old for overly complex movesets. Long sword is the way! Pretty simple moveset and a really cool finishing move. My previous main for MHW was bow, which was pretty fun and you can keep your distance.
