I know you can use your Gmail account in the Outlook platform, what I don't know is the following:
* if I use the Outlook platform on my laptop with my Gmail email account, does it echo if I use native Gmail account on iPhone or iPad?
* if I create folders in Outlook does it echo in Gmail Labels?
* if I file an email in an Outlook folder, then where would that email be in native Gmail app?

Was curious on these questions and folks experience using Gmail account in the Outlook app vs using the in the native Gmail app. I'm used to using Outlook in the corporate world and have not used Gmail as often and like the folder function in Outlook better.

I don't know the answers to your questions, but my experience using Gmail (work email) with the "new" Outlook (installed last week after I had to reformat my machine) was so bad I switched to Thunderbird.

Yes. Outlook is just a client to your Gmail account, so all your folder structures will replicate between Outlook client and your Gmail cloud account.

One tip, if you use iOS for your main Contact book…turn off the Gmail contacts in your iOS settings so that you don't accidentally start adding Contacts to your Gmail account from your phone. It's easy to do by accident and creates a mess.

GSuite will integrate directly into Outlook. Anything I do in Outlook reflects in Gmail, anything I do in Gmail reflects in Outlook.

Ha no, I never used the Aggie network.com email. I'm transitioning from using my company email. It's a pain making the transition.

That's very good to know and was hoping it would reflect in both platforms. How do the folders function in Gmail if setup in Outlook? Especially if you do subfolders since Gmail doesn't do sublabels? At least I'm not aware if you can create sublabels in Gmail.

Transitioning away from the AggieNetwork one is going to be the same. Only 15k unread.

I'm probably not a great person to ask how GSuite actually integrates for normal users -- I'm still sporting Outlook 2010.

why not just use the gmail web client - never understood how people are so tied to the outlook UI

If nothing else, Gmail's limit of 100 emails displayed per page is enough to be too restrictive for me. I don't want have to click "next" to look at the next group of emails.

wow. ok, but do you use conversations mode? In this mode it would be 100 conversations max, not 100 emails, if that helps. I guess I don't understand the use case of needing to have to view such a bulk of emails at a time.

there are likely some other features you could use to make your inbox viewing/management easier, but a lot of people just refuse to change and stay stuck in their ways.

Don't get me wrong, I am absolutely one of those people stuck in their ways (see Outlook 2010 comment above).

But you could also make a case that when it comes to email (the largest productivity point for most people), it can very much be a "if it ain't broke...".

And I use Simplify for Gmail when working inside of Gmail so I'm not against modifying/customizing my viewing, but for those who have over the years built a system for handling their emails, trying to adapt to GMail's way of doing things can cumbersome.

I get it. I just don't get needing to see 100 emails at a time

Yeah I admit I can be picky about stuff like that. Hell, I'm using Outlook 2010 because the newer versions of Outlook integrate the new email preview pop-up into the Windows OS notification bar which is clunky and significantly limiting.

Regarding Gmail, I just think they should allow for a setting to display a larger amount. I dont need to be able to scroll down through 10,000 emails in my inbox or a folder, but I shouldn't get stopped at 100 and then need to click another button just to load the next group.
