How long do you want to ignore this user?
Reside in rural south Texas, Ziplink is our internet. Router went out, trying to install a new one, receiving all kinds of connection errors. Anyone maybe can walk me through it?

I think to get any help here, you'll need to state what you did, what the expected result was, and what the actual result was.

There is not near enough information here.

Were you using the ISP's provided Modem/Router? If so, did you replace it with a Router only? Many ISP's provide Modems that also act as routers, but they are not necessarily one and the same. You need a Modem to convert the ISP's signal to one your LAN will recognize. Your router simply controls the routes within your LAN and WAN.

What model did you have and what model did you replace it with?

Isn't Ziplink a wireless ISP? They probably have a special wireless/radio type router. Are you trying to replace that or another router that plugs into it?

If that's the case, they could have a POE capability in the router to power the external radio. If the new router does not handle POE, then it would be necessary to get an external power supply.

For example, a Ubiquti Cube is a pretty good router that can be configured to power the radio if done correctly. If one of those is replaced with a normal store bought router, it will never work.

If it does involve POE, it is very important to find out exactly what voltages are required. If you use higher power than the radio needs, there is a real possibility of destroying the radio.

Also, just in case it needs saying, one should never switch routers without also switching the power supply for the router. The life expectancy of a router getting more voltage than the power levels for the router may be zero.
