I need to buy a TV for both my gameroom and one for my office. Not looking for anything fancy or huge (probably 50 inch max) and not wanting TY break the bank. Only requirement is easy to use for kids to get to Netflix, etc.

Probably a Roku TV fits the bill for this ask.

onn. 50" Class 4K UHD (2160P) LED Roku Smart TV HDR (100012585) https://www.walmart.com/ip/300694285

If the kids end up breaking it, its not a huge loss and very easy to replace same day from local wallyville. They are actually really good little tvs for the low end budget market.

I have the Hisense U8 and I've been very happy with it. We have it outside on our patio and it's just a fantastic TV.

I bought an Amazon Fire TV last month to put in my gym and I don't have any complaints so far. I already have Fire Sticks on all my other TVs so this time I just got one with it already built in.

TCL Roku (not TCL Google).

Cheap. But don't go too cheap, opt for the 6 series.

I really like TCL for the money.

I snagged an Amazon Fire TV during Amazon prime days for only a hundred bucks. It's a great cheap TV in the less than 350 dollar market. If I was buying a TV for less than 500 bucks, I'd make sure to wait for a sale because you either get a really nice deal or get a middle of the line model priced at entry level

From what I'm seeing, TCL doesn't make Roku TVs anymore. It looks like Roku make their own and the Plus series is the best and then Hisense has some as well. I'm not sure how they compare though. Why do you say no TCL with Google TV? I do prefer Roku but figured if nothing else I could buy a Roku streaming device to use instead.

I had been looking at the TCL Q7 55" Google TV until seeing this thread. I had previously ruled out the Q6 when I was looking, but it is on sale this week. The Roku Plus TV is $450, but I don't know how it fully compares to the Q6 and Q7 because some specs are not listed. The Q6 is $320 and the Q7 is $500.

What are the thoughts on these three TVs?

Edit: Wrong emoji. Didn't notice I hit that one.

Why not the Roku Select line vs the Plus line? Much cheaper, and still good quality for the price. I have a couple of the select roku tvs (along with a couple tcls), and love them. If this conversation is cheap bargain tvs, then the roku select definitely needs to be in the conversation.

My FIL got a Google TCL. It's fine, same quality I think...the interface is just noticeably clunkier and busy compared to my Roku versions. A separate roku device would work fine.

While $450 is not the cheapest TV, I thought it was still in the budget category. It would be my main TV is another reason. I'm not sure how much difference the QLED with full array local dimming of the Plus makes versus just the normal LED and direct lit backlighting of the Select. The room is very bright in the afternoon.

Other than that, probably any difference in speakers would be the next biggest concern. They don't provide details on the power for the speakers so I don't know if they are the same quality or not. I'd prefer not to have to buy a soundbar if I didn't have to. My current TV is a 2012 Samsung LCD. I don't really know how those speakers compare to a new TV either.

I'm not opposed to going with the Select series, but I don't look at TVs enough to know all the specs and how that may affect how much difference I would notice between the two Roku TVs.

I don't know how the model lines today compare to TCL's previous lineups.

But I have a 4 series and two 6 series from a few years back. The picture quality difference is noticeable...the 600s are much more vibrant and I think have better black levels. Plus they just look a lot better aesthetically...have that brushed metal look on the bezel and aren't the cheap piano plastic. Cheaper TV is just in a guest bedroom so I don't really care, but I wouldn't opt for it again.

I had four tcl 6 series with Roku built in and all four of them no longer work(tv powers on and backlight works but nothing on the screen). Three were outdoors but under a covered area/one inside house (all with the same issue). They worked for 1-2 years. I replaced three of them with the Hisense u8k with google tv and one with the Roku plus series. The hisense is comparable to the tcl 6 series but the software/hardware is a huge drop off compared to tcl roku imo. The Roku plus series tv works great but I think the picture quality is probably closer to a tcl 5 series.
