Can you not always have the ability to send a direct message to someone on twitter / x ? I am not asking if you can post a comment on their tweet.

I thought if you had a twitter/x account you could send them a direct message. Are some accounts set up so that you can not direct message them?

I am trying to figure out if a hack, spam twitter / x account is really fake.

People can limit incoming direct messages to people they follow or totally disable them.
