Is there any value to this or the components?
CPU is trash otherwise, RAM and hard drive are removed.

No hard drive, so no windows to boot from? Or… am I wrong?
It's decent timing - there isn't a crazy amount of stuff on there right now since I've been using the laptop for most things. I'll just throw Windows 10, Office, VLC, Steam, and whatever else ends up needed when I realize I want to use it.FatZilla said:OnlyForNow said:

Cpu and mobo swap are a nightmare on older systems just FYI before you jump into this rabbit hole unless you are reinstalling the os along with the swap. You will be running command line fixes from a boot disk/drive of some sort like a Ubuntu os to go in and wipe out a lot of things in the windows hidden folders to get it to boot most likely. Just changing a mobo with the same cpu on an old 7 system when it died took hours of troubleshooting to get it to finally boot again when i had to do this.
The current setup has either 24 or 32GB of DDR3 - 4 slots filled, 2 are 8s. A couple friends have some DDR4 left over, up for whoever wanted it with no takers but I doubt it'll be too bad if I have to order some.FatZilla said:The Fife said:It's decent timing - there isn't a crazy amount of stuff on there right now since I've been using the laptop for most things. Ya you should be good then. As long as you have enough old ram for 10 to run.

I have a computer parts question that I'll post here. I am replacing a power supply as part of a rebuild to my old XP machine. I upgraded a few components (and the original 250-watt power is hard to find) so i was thinking of going with a 500-watt power. Everything looks like it will be compatible except the 5v power rail is a little light on the Amperage. Everything else meets or exceeds. Is that okay?
I have previously upgraded HDs, ram, and video cards, but this will be my first time rebuilding a computer so I know very little. It is intended to be a fun summer project with my youngest son. I haven't found a ton of explanation online other than the very basics.

I believe the answer is yes. It is a late 90s HP.

[More] Dumb questions:
1) Can I buy a 32-bit mini PC? My goal is to load W95 on it so I can run old programs I had plus some I get off of History of Internet Vault.
2) Can mini PCs have a CD rom? I may need this to run these old programs and games.
3) How much are you billing me for these consulting hours you have put in?
