My old monitors quit on me in my home office setup, and I am looking to buy new. I don't necessarily have a budget in mind, but I want to find a nice dual monitor setup without breaking the bank. Neither me nor my wife primarily work from home, so this setup is for casual use and occasional work from home use. We don't need a ton of horsepower. Dual monitors is a must-have, though.

I also am in need of a wireless printer, for similar scope of use. Needs to be able to scan, copy, and print. Ability to print on Letter, Legal, and Ledger would be great.

Appreciate any and all recommendations.

We recently got with a Brother printer as it seems others are going to subscription models just to be able to print....

For what you're describing for monitors, seems any on Amazon would work.

I'd suggest looking into a widescreen single monitor setup, though. We recently got them at the office and I liked it much more than the old dual monitor setup so got one for the home office as well. Really the main requirement I had was USB-C power delivery to limit the number of cables needed. We went with a 34" LG Curved Widescreen Monitor

This is my WFH setup. That's 2 34" curved ultra wide monitors. They were like $265 each. If I had your use case I might just do one of those ultra wides. Each one is basically like having two 27" monitors. No they aren't that size but there's typically a lot of dead space on the sides of a monitor that you don't really notice because you're working in the middle.

So much this. Printer costs 2x a comparable cartridge printer but ink is maybe 1/10. Infinitely better solution. Mine has been going for 5+ years and it's great.

I print quite a bit at home with work screen prints and also personal stuff.

As to printers, search for "Brother MFC" and that will give you a laser printer/scanner combo. My toner lasts for years before I have to replace the cartridge. I like the duplex feature too.

Brother just did the firmware update on their inkjet devices to make it impossible to color correct unless you have genuine brother cartridges. Of course the also removed access to older version of the firmware. Brother is now on my never again list as of this week.

That should be illegal.

That's basically where I ended up.

When I was teaching I had 3 monitors, just because I had the space. When i switched careers and began working from home I went to a side my side set up and hated it. I just kept finding myself never looking straight on at my computer. The problem was, I missed the real estate multiple 24 in monitors provided.

I ended up going with a 34in flat monitor and really love that set up now. iOS and PCs both have abilities to easily divide your screen in to multiple window options now so I still get the effect of a side by side set up.

The only thing I print a lot of is shipping labels so I bought a thermal label printer for 80 bucks. That sucker is worth every penny.

I still print quite a bit, but it's all b&w laser stuff.

Twenty years ago, I'd tell you the HP LaserJets couldn't be beaten. (In fact, I've still got three from the early 2000's still in daily service with several hundred thousand pages between them all).

But in 2025, I'd tell you you stay away from HP for a b&w laser and buy a Kyocera instead.

I did keep a color laser for a few years, but it was a PITA and always pestering me for maintenance, cleaning, or buying more of the four cartridges it used. I took it out of service (sure, I 'recycled' it) and now when I need color stuff I send the pdf's to a guy down the street at a copy center and pick them up when they're done. I keep my sanity that way.

EDIT: And to build on the previous post, I also keep a Brother P-Touch 1-1/2" laminated label printer hooked up to the computer. That thing is absolutely great. It's really not wide enough for shipping labels, but the multi-function tray on the laser printers can handle those for me.

I'm going to echo the Brothers printer as well. We bought one back when COVID hit and we needed one for the house and it's been great. I've printed quite a bit between work stuff and things the kids need, and the ink refills can get expensive if you're buying the Brothers branded stuff, but there are other brands on Amazon that work as well for like $35 for all. I also enjoy that printing stuff from my phone or iPad is easy and there's no need for another app to do it.

Kids homework is primarily what is printed off, but having the ability to easily scan stuff to be emailed or saved is the main thing I use it for now. I know phones can do it, but when you have more than a couple of pages, a printer is superior.

Also, about a year ago, my 6 year old went on a coloring kick, so I was printing off coloring pages of Mario and Sonic characters left and right. He eventually asked me if he could have some tape, so I gave him a roll and thought nothing of it. Realized I hadn't heard or seen him in a while (dad fail), so I went up to his room and he was taping all of those coloring pages to his wall. Dude had at least 50 of them already up with a stack left to go.

Ultrawide curved monitors bother the heck out of me, just a weird aspect ratio that doesn't fit things well.

Dell makes great pretty inexpensive displays, you can get a 27" 4K display for around 500 bucks (think they have a cheaper model or two as well).

Good deal on a great future proof 4k monitor if you still need one.

I have 2 printers in my home office.

First is a brother MFCL 8900 CDW all in one. Second is a leased Konica Minolta Bizhub C368. The little Brother is great for printing checks and small stuff. It is within reach without having to stand up. Also does great on labels, doesn't smear.

The biz hub is because often I have to print 10k pages or so in a week. It is great for handling large projects and grinding. It is about 10 feet away and I have it networked so my wife can use it as well since her desk is about 30 feet away. Holds 1k pieces of paper at a time, scans 80 or so in one go and I can send the scan directly to everyone in the house and all the employees. If I were to guess, I bet that printer has done a half million pages. I change toner every year or so and changed the heads once. No reason to have a maintenance contract.

If you have the use there is nothing better than having a full on office printer right there in your home office. I spend $80 a month and it saves me tens of thousands of bucks a year in time. That thing will punch through a big job and print costs are cheap.

The brother machines are fine, just get the big ones. I buy them for all of my employees and we seem to burn about one a year up. Used to use HP printers but they didn't seem to last as long.

As for monitors I don't game on the work computer so I just get cheap ones and toss them if they break, which they never seem to do. I work on side by side 27 inch ones with the laptop screen making the third.

Just went through a similar upgrade myself.
For monitors, I ended up getting two 24" Dell IPS screens. Great quality for the price and perfect for side-by-side setup.
As for printers, I'd recommend looking into hewlett packard(HP) all-in-ones. I've got the HP OfficeJet Pro and it's been super reliable for wireless printing, scanning, and copying. Handles Letter and Legal easily. I haven't tried Ledger yet, but specs say it supports it. I think it's a solid value without going overboard.
