How often do you replace these? How long are you gaming for on the go? Is it mainly plugged into a set up for gaming or not? What's your budget?

You do know gaming laptops can range from $1,000-$4,500, right?

Any gaming laptop will wreck anything you need to do for work. So the question is: What do you want to play, at what resolution, at what graphic settings, and at what FPS.

Those are my questions if you don't have a budget. If you do have a budget, then start there and get the best device for said budget.

ETA: For me, I opt for gaming laptops because I want to be able to sit on the couch or pickup and leave town for a week and bring my laptop with me. With a gaming laptop, you will always be less economical and powerful than a desktop. My idea is to replace my laptop every other Video card generation, which is basically every 4 years or so.

Basically a the equivalent of a 4060 laptop. Fine for entry range stuff. Definitely wouldn't use it past 1440p at home.

Seems like I replace a laptop every 3-4 years. Last one was supposedly a high performance gaming laptop (asus) but died after 3 years. I was wanting to do BG3 but I would likely be playing every 4-5 days (not every day). I would have it plugged into multiple monitors and that's it. Budget is 1,000, but I would like it to last for a day 4-5 years. Thanks for your help aezmvp. Much appreciated.

Honestly I would say 1,000 is my budget. Thanks for your input!

For that budget, you'll be in the RTX40 series of GPU. Next question would be screen size. From there, you basically just input those filters in NewEgg and see what there is. If something looks good as far as specs and price, search that model on YouTube and look for some reviews.

There are just so many companies to choose from.

I'm kind of curious about this. I have a 17" 5yr old Dell gaming laptop (but not Alien) and the monitor is starting to glitch, but its not constant. The 2nd monitor is have plugged in has no issues. I have zero issues with performance so I'm not sure if this is just the monitor or not.
Sorry to hijack.

LS, I will probably use an additional monitor typically but 15-17" is fine with me.
Thanks for the help, I will go to new egg and try it.
Thanks again for the guidance!

This is actually a very solid choice.
