so last week I bought a brand new Lenovo laptop. When I try to add the Xerox 3215 WorkCentere it recognizes the laptop but was the driver is not installed. I looked at YouTube and tried to follow the instructions, but I've got the same message. When I'm trying to download the driver, do I need to have the printer turned on and connected to the laptop?

I see advertisements for $39.99 which promises to download any drivers you need, but it seems as though I shouldn't have to pay for that just to download a driver.

Finally, my printer used to run on a Windows 10 laptop and my new laptop is Windows 11. When I search for a print driver online, I google Windows 11, but I still get a message when I look for the printer on my computer is that the printer is missing a driver.

Thanks in advance.

Don't do this. Lol

Should be this one. Yes, connect the printer to the laptop when installing, whether it be over the network or directly connected via USB. I would think the driver installer package would walk you through it and prompt you about how you will be connecting the printer to your laptop, could be wrong though..

Printers are such an all-around pain in the ass...

Yeah, that sounds like the miracle device ThePhotoStick that will automatically and seamlessly backup all your pictures. LOL!

Normally, you shouldn't have to pay for a utility to download drivers. On my Dell Tower PC, there's a Dell utility that handles just about anything Windows doesn't. In some cases, you have to go to the manufacturer's website for the update but should be free of course.

Were you trying to download the driver from this page? Workcentre 3215 Drivers and Downloads

You don't have to pay for drivers. Those software providers who charge are basically scanning your PC and letting you know what new drivers you may need.

All drivers can usually be found on your PC manufacturer's website. Specific drivers for specific hardware should be found on the websites for that equipment.

After installing drivers, reboot your PC to make sure they take.
