Since we stream "as we need" I ended up down a rabbit hole with OTA antenna. I have a good antenna but was curious if there is a DVR option with a tuner that will use a couple of old USB hard drives to save money. Does anyone use such a device with an external usb drive for recording over the air programming? None of my streaming services offer local.

Not sure in the face of atsc 3 adding encryption which will continue to work. I know that some have had the atsc license group causing trouble.

I have an HD Homerun and a Raspberry Pi running a plex server.

Second to HDHomeRun with a Plex server. Use the Plex Server to record and HDHomeRun app to watch live TV

ATSC 3 is an issue across the board, but hopefully that will sort itself out by 2028 when ATSC 1 is slated to be deprecated.

After some research, why not just get a tablo four tuner and be done?

One big downside to Tablo is it requires an Internet connection. I believe that may be fixed in a future update though.

Tablo is good and the simple solution though.

We've had Tablo for some time. Used to record a whole lot but now just use for live tv. We bought the lifetime acct so that's payed for itself already.

We pay for Amazon prime and bum my sisters d+ acct so that's plenty.

I believe I saw that update is here (at least for some devices)

Tablo has been pretty solid for us

I finally installed a Televes Ellipse. I utilized the dish mast and free rg6 cabling dish network installed and graciously left abandoned when I cancelled. I pointed it to my local broadcasters and the freakin TV tuned in 106 channels. Lol.

All locals are awesome. I might have to entertain a Tablo or Homerun. Would be cool to dvr 4k and pipe it to all TV.

What's better is being able to VPN into your home network and watch the local channels on your phone.
