My wife and I both have iPhones. Mine is mainly just a distraction.

If I get an Apple Watch with cellular/its own number and use her phone to set it up, can I still add WhatsApp/slack/signal etc to my Apple Watch, and have separate accounts from the ones on her phone?

You can't have an account separate from the iPhone but you can have a shared account t or child account. But since you already have an iPhone, keep it. Even if you deactivate it from your cellular provider it will still operate on wifi and allow you to configure a watch.

The one time I've seen someone use their Apple Watch as a phone was the most excruciating example of d-baggery I've ever witnessed in public. Don't be that guy.

A coworker did that with a Samsung watch back in 2014 and him trying to take calls on it was like watching a broke-ass Dick Tracy

while that paints an amazing picture...you can use the watches with a Bluetooth headset.

still seems like a terrible idea. sending a text on my watch is a chore that I gave up on quickly.

my wife is from South America and those lazy SOB's only use voice memo's these days. Can't stand that and refuse to participate.

1
