Anybody have advice on a simple set up to capture forward facing activity while you are driving?

I see these things used quite a bit and they surprisingly catch important facts prior to an accident

Thinking it might be good for each of my cars for my family

Go to the auto board.

I would recommend getting one with rear camera too for protection from behind. Get one with a small extended camera via hardwire and you can run it around the ceiling trim area for easy install or via floor and back up the trim in back for cleaner but harder to do. You can get one with just a rear facing camera on the front mounted cam but those capture the interior of your car alot more than any details of the road directly behind you.

I recently went down the "I need a dashcam for my wife's car so it needs to be an easy install and completely hands off". After reading reviews and watching too many videos I ended up with the viofo A329S.

It's one of their newest models so the price is still up there, but has great image quality and isn't something I'll have to fiddle with after install.

Wasn't hard at all. Took me no more than 20 minutes to set everything up. There is a rear camera as well.
