Howdy, I am an Old but fairly competent with computers. I have an ORBI RBR 20 Mesh WiFi system with two satellites. I am having trouble connecting any additional items to the 2.4GHz band. I have 2 Hard wired connections to the router, 5 connections to the 5 GHz band and 18 connections to the 2.4 GHz band.

Is there a maximum number of connections that can be made?

I have several connections that I have turned off because I no longer have those items, can they somehow be deleted from my list, they are listed but I have switched them off.

Or, do I just need to upgrade to a new ORBI router?

If I upgrade to a new NetGear WiFi system will I have to reconnect to all my current WiFi connections?

Betting you have IP assignment conflicts. You're not anywhere near maximum allowable devices. If you're not doing anything complex with your network I'd just factory reset, change the WiFi name to something different and reconnect all of your devices.

I'd be willing to bet it's a firmware issue. That router is past end of service and isn't being supported by Netgear anymore. I have a RBR50 and was having connectivity issues. Flashed a third party firmware and voila. Might look around and see if there is any newer third party firmware for it. If not, might be time to replace to something supported.

To answer the last question, if you do end up getting a new system just make sure you set the SSID and password to match your previous setup. Devices should all reconnect automatically.

akaggie05: Howdy, THANK YOU that was my next question, Wow, so glad you answered it, could not stand to have to try to reconnect all of these devices, would not know where to start!

I did that when I got my new router and it 90% worked.
