What is the cheapest 50# bag of deer corn you have come across in the state? See $7.39 in Hopkins County.

I bought 300 pounds in bulk (poured into a 55 gallon drum) for $25 directly from a farmer (fellow Ag). It went from his silo into my 55 gallon drum.

Wow, of all the walmarts I've been to Ive NEVER seen anything but 40 lb bags. I'll have to check out the Bryan and CS walmarts to see if they have 50 lb bags for that price.

Academy in SA had 40# bags for about $5 I think. I didn't pay a whole lot of attention, but it was cheaper than I thought it would have been even for 40#.

The former Ace Hardware store and the feed store in Junction were both about $8.50 this past weekend.

I just buy it by the can at Krogers. Throw it on the back porch for a day and it is dry enough to put into the feeders.

Buying in bulk is fine as long as you dont put it in your spin feeders. There is a good reason why it's that cheap. It is not cleaned and will likely give your feeders fits eventually.

Flex-corn can mean one of two things:

Flex-eared corn is a type of corn that has been bread to be responsive to the environment it is in. In good climate, ears will grow much larger. In poor climate, ears will stay smaller but maintain a high quality.

Also

Flex corn, just like flex cotton, allows for a much greater window of spraying herbicide....you have the flexibility of spraying the crop with herbicide much later in the growing period which helps overall yield.

Corn is way down due to the financial markets (it is a commodity, you know).

Going to a co-op or farmer and buying in bulk is going to be your best bet. Usually this far away from the large markets you have what is called a basis, which translates to subtracting the shipping cost to the end user off the commodity price. In other words, the further away you are from end users, the less your commodity is worth.

That's less than $2.50 per bushel. Either you're paying more, they're not giving you 100#, or they are selling for about $1.20/bu loss.
