For those who may be looking for a new hunting or family companion. There's a high liklihood that I will have some around March 15th ready to goto homes around mid-may. Pups will be pure-bred and registered through CKC. I expect litter to consist of chocolate/black. Small possibility of one Yellow, but there is already a "waiting list" for it. Pups would make extraordinary family pets and would be good candidates for gun dogs for someone looking to go that route.

i am in auburn until july. last litter i hand delivered pups, had people pick them up, had a friend from tx take one for me, and even sent a couple via air shipping.

eagle, just out of curiousity, how big are the pups from her last litter right now? They are almost a year old, right?

Is the sire of this litter your chocolate's sire?

they're about 60-65 lbs now. they're almost a year.the pictures of scout are the most recent, as i got them 2 days ago. i'm sure the others are around that size. a couple of texags users have some of the others and could probably post some more recent pictures if they want, but thats up to them.

this litter will be from MY chocolate male (not his sire) and will be the last from my black as she'll be getting spayed after this litter.

oh, this is your choc.....he sure grew up fast.

I think I might be in the pickingings for one of these guys.

Sarge is a very good little hunter. He made over 180 retrieves in his first year. He is unbelievable in the field. I will post some newer pics of him soon. In the pics above he is about 6 months old just after his first duck hunt ever. On that hunt he did not retrieve any birds, just watched two very well trained dogs work. The very next weekend he made 8 solo retrieves. If you are looking for a good hunting and house buddy i would highly recommend checking in to this.

Tilly is my dad's dog and he thinks she's just the best dog. She's best friends with my maltipoo. I love her.

How calm (relatively) were they as young puppies?

the last ones i had were 9 weeks old. they were rascals when they were together, but separated they were pretty good. those two were paper trained before they left the house. I had some pretty good reports from owners shortly after they left here though.

They're labs and will have energy, just all depends on how much time is spent with them. I've got pre-deployment stuff going on so i opted to not take classes this semester and will have nothing but time to give them until they goto their homes.

I've got a wedding to goto in Dallas about the time these guys will be ready to go to homes. I was planning on flying but if there are any interested in that area, I'll drive to deliver.

I only ask b/c my brother has a female "white" aka yellow lab that is a year old that has been a complete spazz ever since she was about 3 months old.

The would like another dog but don't want a pup that is going to be a spastic idiot like she was.

I raised a litter of Rotties and they couldn't believe how calm they have been (granted their personalities are much different).

But I know you are great with your dogs and just from the pics of these pups with their owners/new homes, they look much more mellow than she has ever been.

i wouldnt expect the personality of these dogs too be much different. The sire is a little bigger than the last one, but his personality is about the same. The only time he goes absolutely bonkers is at feeding time. I'm working on that, however.

Sarge is calm most of the time. He freaks out at feeding time and when i get home from work. I wouldn't have it any other way though. When I get home from a long hard day at the office it is a great feeling to see him spinning circles and wagging his tail. For the most part he is very well behaved but he is a lab puppy.

He is like that the whole time we are out there. He is all business, he could not care less if you pay any attention to him when he is hunting.

I will be interested in a puppie around that time. Only problem is I live in the Houston area. I could drive to Dallas if need be but keep me posted on whatever I need to do closer to March. Thanks. I would like a yellow or chocolate if possible, but wouldnt mind a black either. Preferably a male.

Sorry, but what is the difference in CKC as compared to AKC?

So, only 1 yellow lab and that already has a waiting list? In that case, would you have any chocolates that may be available? Or do you recommend black over chocolate?

Also, is there a reason for price diff amongst yellow, choc, and black?

CKC/AKC: I've compared it to Toyota and Lexus where AKC would be Lexus and CKC Toyota. Both reputable organizations with AKC having a "higher status" so to speak. AKC charges about twice as much for their registration than CKC. I've had 2 AKC registered labs and my dad has had one. Between those, the difference I can give you is that they were AKC registered and she was CKC registered. All have been great dogs.

Chocolate is the minority of the 3 colors. They typically run a little bit higher in cost as opposed to the other two. I wouldn't recommend any one color over the other though. I've owned labs of each color and to me, it just doesnt get any better than this breed.

scheduling vet appt. for friday, confirmation to be posted soon. she's putting on some weight, developing breasts, and wouldnt eat this morning so i'm inclined to think that the results will be positive.

blood test came back positive, puppies are a go.

I will be going to a wedding in dallas the same weekend the pups will be ready to goto homes. I am willing to drive them to dallas and possibly other parts of that area and along I-20 through Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana the week of May 11th if anyone in that area is interested.

I have flown a set of puppies before and shipping would be at the expense of the buyer.(crate, health certificate, cargo fee)

If interested, what would be the possibility of getting a pup to Austin? Also, how much would it cost to ship?

The last litter I shipped 2 pups together to Midland and the cost was about 200.00 + cost of the kennel which was about 100 because it had to be larger to accomodate both pups. (i send the receipt with the kennel which will probably come from PetCo (only pet supply store we have in Auburn), so it can be returned if one wanted to retain some $$$.

My trip to dallas for a wedding MIGHT be canceled due to me having to goto a school for promotion before my deployment later this year, but would be inclined to say I could maybe work something out either before or after that school to drive out to TX. (i need to visit before i go overseas) The school starts May 8 and ends May 23.
