I came into possession of this knife yesterday through legitimate and non-nefarious means. Based on the markings, can anyone provide any information on the knife maker and where this might have originally come from? Thanks, I'm just curious.

That yellow handle reminds me of old Case knives. Their folders often had that color. I have no idea about the Myer mark

I don't know either. I have several Case knives, Moore Maker, Eye Brand, Benchmade and a few others. I just don't know anything about this one. I Googled Meyer knives and the result seemed inconclusive. I don't think this is a Slipjoint Cartel knife but I could be wrong.

Not Slipjoint Cartel from what I can tell.

I searched for "myers 14 pocket knife" and found several listings on ebay for knives made by Paul Myers.

The listings have this heading:

NOS Handmade Custom Knifemaker's Guild Member Paul Myers (RIP) Slip Joint Knife

The markings on these knives are consistent with yours.

Thank you Big Shoulders. My Google foo skills are fading. I believe you are correct based on a quick search with Paul Myers. This knife belonged to my Brother, Class of '96. He passed in August and my Sister in Law presented me with this knife yesterday. I'm pretty good about not losing pocket knives and plan to carry this one often if not every day.

Hmmm.

Now I am not so sure about Paul Myers. Here is a thread I found in which someone has a knife that looks a lot like yours, and actually called Paul Myers and discovered that Paul Myers did not make it.

In any event, it is a beautiful knife and I hope it brings you many fond memories of your brother.

Thank you for the lead. As it was his, and now it is mine, I'm happy and honored to carry it.

I now believe this knife was made by Hayden Myers of Mertzon, TX.

See the knife in this link:

Looks like what we used for the version of mumblety peg that our dad taught us. Played on a wooden table where you held the base of the knife on top of your finger with the locked blade pointing forward and the folder pointed down. You flip the knife and score based on how it lands.
Each "stick" in the table scored.

"Stick" was landing:

5-On it's back with blade pointing up
4-Only with the locked blade stuck in the table
3-Both blades stuck (or one stuck and one touching)
2-Folder only stuck
1-Folder stuck and end of the handle touching
Nothing on it's side

Your knife was hand made by Mr. Hayden Myers (deceased) of Mertzon, TX. He was a personal friend and customer of my hardware store. He made many of all types of knives and I probably handled this particular one since he brought each new knife by my store for his morning cup of coffee and to show me his work. This particular one has handles made from Ivory which he bought a two elephant tusks at an FDIC auction in Midland, TX. He had all the appropriate paperwork to establish provenance for legal possession of the ivory. He made kives from stainless steel and from carbon steel. The file work on the back was one of his distinctive features. After making the blades he heat-treated them to ensure hardness. Notice how the knives are tapered to hold the handles. It is unfortunate that Mr. Myers has passed away for he was a very good man and produced very good quality knives that ended up all of the country. You should treat it well because there are no more.
