Powerful bird to do that. I observed an Osprey this spring actually in shallow water of the South Llano River chasing minnows/bream.

They are such cool birds to watch. We have several in my neighborhood. I feel sorry for them sometimes because the eagles harass them and try to get them to drop their catch. If they do, the eagle will pick it up off the ground, but I don't believe I have ever seen an osprey on the ground. I guess it is just hardwired for the osprey that if they stay off the ground, they don't have too many predators to worry about.

I had an Osprey living 30' from my front door in POC all winter.The palm snapped during a storm and left a nice perch.
