Looking to increase propane capacity for toy hauler use this winter. Anyone have any experience with the Flame King line of "HOG" horizontal and vertical cylinders? The ability to transport/use the tank in either orientation is interesting.

I haven't used that brand of cylinder, but I was a RRC propane licensee (company rep) for over 30 years as our manufacturing company installed propane systems and appliances on special purpose vehicles, and have experience with these type things in general.

I'll only offer this -- 100lb cylinders are nice in that you get an increased rate of vaporization in colder weather under heavy draw conditions. Plus, you get a longer run time, of course.

But, you've got to be in Hulk Hogan shape to throw those things around when they're full or you'll really screw up your back. I think the tare weight of the cylinder is about 80lbs and since the cylinder is filled to 80% you've got 160lbs total to deal with.

The 40lb cylinders are much more manageable for mere mortals.

I agree that wrestling a full 100lb cylinder wouldn't be enjoyable. I've just haven't seen much info on any of that particular line of dual position tanks...other than the standard company-produced fare you see on retailer sites.

Appreciate the reply!
