Found this inside the house.

(1) what is it
(2) given it's a young one, does that mean an adult is nearby? Or more babies?

Length & width?

I find these little things in the house occasionally. Wife and kids want to burn the place down. I just toss them outside.

I'm pretty sure they get in through seams in the doors.

This is a rough earth snake. Young individuals have that cream colored cap or imperfect ring. Yes, young means there are adults nearby but you have nothing to worry about.

It looks like an earthsnake. Its full grown, so don't worry about bigger ones being around. Its a bug eater. They are not venomous and should be safe to handle.
