This is a few pieces of a full bedroom set i am finishing up (large dresser and queen bed). Ill finish those up soon, but here are the end table for now.

The drawers run on cut guides into the side of the drawers, and on a runner screwed into the inside of the cabinet. I really like this style as it gives a really smooth movement, and the end of the groove where it hits the extra wide dovetail gives a very easily adjustable depth stop, so the drawers always position correctly. Flush mount drawers can be a pain getting to sit even with the face, they just want to sit recessed or proud and it annoys me when they aren't perfect.

While i did not mitre the corners, as that wasn't the style I was going for, I did buy a tree of walnut that is wide enough for the full sides on the nightstands, and i cut them in sequence so the grain lines up from the side, top, and back down the other side. The raised panels on the headboard/toeboard for the bed are from the same tree, and the dresser frame is also from the same tree (though I had to bookmatch the boards for the dresser given how deep/wide it was.

In 200 years there's going to be an in depth conversation about how the craftsman that made that piece really appreciated the material he was working with and where it came from. And they're going to be right.

yeah, I'm a huge history buff. I love interesting military stats.

the bottom half is a list of items for me to make to sell this year. I'm actually going to take a different approach on projects this year. going to do less custom stuff and I am going to attend the mesquite woodworking festival this October in Fredericksburg as a participant and have a booth for the first time. I am thinking of what items I want to have made for sale. We've gone the last 15 years to see what people have, and my wife finally pushed me enough to participate.

after this bedroom set, I don't have a firm customer project ready to go for the first time in probably 10 years. and the show will let me make some pieces I've been thinking about as well as use up wood I have on hand. I really need to shrink my wood pile. I also renewed my A&M Crafter's license, so ill make a good handful of A&M branded items, as there are a lot of Aggies at the show.

Dude. That's awesome. Congrats and good luck. I think with your craftmanship and skill, you will do well at shows like that. Wish I was in that area and could stop by.

finish is a conversion varnish, satin.

soulslave,
its funny, i made this desk years ago as a spec item to sell, and its never sold, but the style of desk (square frames, floating inset panels) has been really popular and ive probably made a dozen desks on that style for other people, just never sold the original. I figure it will be a good piece to show at the festival. I always go to look to see what unique ideas people have come up with, and ive never seen anything similar, so im really proud of my idea. I had cut the end grain slices from mesquite in my firewood pile, they sat around for years without me knowing what to do with them, then one day i was with the family at the fort worth botanical gardens, and they had a really nice flagstone walkway, and it gave me the idea.

My woodpile.. it really needs to shrink, and there is a lot more on the 'working' side of my garage.

That's awesome.

If you want to sale any of your wood to unload, I'll buy from ya, small scraps or pieces that don't fit it your project load. Just text me what you want to unload and price.

I'm about to start my first big project and build a media cabinet. I have the walnut for the legs, and am hunting for stretcher pieces along with what to make the top and bottom out of.

When you go to the festival, look up Roger Ellison. He'll have a booth there and has been attending the festival for several years now. He's a good friend and mentor.

yes. he has some of she sharpest pieces at the show. I can see where others get sloppy in the details of their pieces, but he has the best attention to detail I've seen at the show.
