Howdy,

Looking for recommendations for a (river) trout fishing package including cabin, boats and guide that will accommodate a group of 4-6 including elderly persons.

Thanks for your input.

White River Trout Club

https://www.whiterivertroutclub.com/

I've fished there a couple of times and had a great time. Caught some great fish also.

ETA: Do you mean rivers in Arkansas, or the Arkansas River?

that'd be rivers in Arkansas!

The White River the stretch below Bull Shoals Dam is some of the best.

I would tell you to page 87Flyfisher for input.
Personally I have used Cranor's White River Lodge.
They are who we used for our top dealer award trips. They are the guys that Ranger and other boat manufacturers in the Ozarks use for client trips. They have the most experienced guides around… have great new equipment and can cater to all ages, male and female…..and it's a very nice lodge.

You need to ask them about current river conditions as we have had lots of rain and flooding and both Bull Shoals and Norfork lakes are way over pool and they have the gates open.
87Flyfisher can give exact information.

ETA: If you come up this way let us know. We got a few Aggies up here and we could all get together for dinner one evening.

For one stop spin fishing with lodging, meals and guides as Gunny mentioned Cranor's is the best for fishing, Gaston's gets a slight edge for food and lodging. But both are top notch and have taken care of a lot of anglers for many years.

White River Trout Club and White River Inn are the best choices for fly fishing.

I live on the Norfork just above the confluence with the White so feel free to message me if you have any questions and as Gunny mentioned, he and I enjoy getting to meet up with Aggies visiting our part of the Ozarks.

Stetson's is really nice as well - the nice thing about any of these places is you can get guide first day and learn their fishing methods ( most likely drifting powerbait) and then rent your own boat the next day for DIY if you want to do more fishing. Great place to fish

I didn't list Stetson's because it sold in February and is undergoing some changes after being owned by the Turners for 36 years.

Greatly appreciate the feedback TxAG-010, BurnetAg99, Gunny456, 87Flyfisher and AdDad121619. This is very helpful, and I will leverage your feedback for planning purposes. We are considering our trip during late summer or early fall (so long as it doesn't interfere with a game at Kyle field). We will be primarily arranging this trip for my Dad (who is class of '58) and if it is a go, I will most certainly let you (Gunny and 87Flyfisher) know so that we can enjoy dinner together one evening.

We are aware of the extensive rains in your area so we will plan accordingly. As we move forward, I'll be back in touch seeking more wisdom and advice.

Thanks very much!

We are heading up in June. 87 has spent a lot of time on the phone with me giving tons of advice about fishing and beyond!! It sounds like we could easily spend 2 if not 3 weeks there so only 1 week will be scratching the surface
Can't wait to meet up with him and hopefully Gunny too for a lunch or dinner!!

We opted to stay at Rileys Outfitters and are guiding with Flys and Guides. Both recommended by 87. We chose there b/c it's also right by the buffalo river and have boats to rent onsite. We'll be right there to chase trout or smallies depending on water flow.

Trip. 87Flyfisher said he has been talking with you. When you come up we definitely all need to get together. Would like to show you my place if you have time too.
You guys will have a blast up here fishing and seeing the country.

Over 3/4 of what you know about fly fishing came directly from me talking.

And when he is talking folks should listen.
I have found he has probably forgotten more about fishing than I can ever hope to know. Great thing is he is always unselfishly very willing to share his knowledge to make sure others can have a great time.

Simply put: The man knows stuff.

You definitely want to fish the Norfork or White River out of Cotter/Mountain Home. Call Diamond State Fly Shop for guide referrals. I fish with Ben Levin and he is great (fly only, however). If you are looking for a bait guide, they are hiding behind every tree over there.
Deloss Dodds has an indention that appears similar to the cut a hatchet makes on a tree branch in place of where his man parts should be.

Lots of trout guides as you said…..some good/some not. I have found that the best lodges and guides are what the local native people up here will recommend.

Stayed at Riley Station years ago. Great location and I'm sure they have updated their lodging but it was perfect for our budget back then. Thru a bit of miscommunication I was given the impression I could not bring my boat (<9hp in the buffalo then) so spent most our time on the Buffalo in a canoe. We did the White one day and shot into the Buffalo which was pretty hairy per my wife. Hope you make great memories.

Been years, but we used to like going with

and then there was this old BNB in Yellville where we'd stay.

I'm gonna try and give Trip and his son some rudimentary fly casting lessons @87Flyfisher but don't be too hard on them or my instruction if they can't cast when they get up there. I'm not a miracle worker.

My son and I are going to fish with them in a couple of weeks.

As others have said, it has been raining like crazy here all spring. We moved from Houston last summer and this spring has put Houston rains to shame.

My son and I fished with Cotter Trout Dock yesterday on the White. 24 bows and 5 big (but not quite legal) browns. Great time. Beautiful area.

Sounds great. Next time you are in this area holler. I'll buy dinner in Mountain Home somewhere. Love hooking up with Ags up here.
Had dinner last night with 87Flyfisher and his wife. They are truly some fine folks. I am proud of my degree in WFS from our Alma matter but the true knowledge they both know of fisheries and fish of many species is tremendous. Makes me realize how little I thought I knew.
Just to listen and talk with them is mesmerizing to me.
If you ever have the chance to meet them do it.

Is the rope swing into the swimming hole still there? My kids loved it when we would visit years ago. Cotter trout dock is a great spot.
