Snooki and our daughter were born on the same day 11+ years ago. Today Snooki went to heaven. She was a fierce defender of our daughter and our family home. She was a good dog.

Luckily it happened after our daughter went to school this AM, and luckily she dies naturally without the need for us to make "the decision". My wife is devastated. Our daughter will be. So long old girl, you were a good one. No matter how many you raise and then loose this never get's easier.

Just drove by the gravesite of our border collie Jessie this morning. Lost her 4 years ago next month and it still gets to me. Prayers for your loss, and that our precious dogs greet us in heaven when the day comes…

These were taken a couple months ago, she "seemed" in relatively good health for her age. I went back and looked at our cameras and about 8-8:30 last night she started falling down and staggering. Probably stroked out on us. She didn't whimper or cry, just laid down and went to sleep. Good way to go.

Sorry for your loss, looks like she was a good one. We put our 15 year old schnauzer down today. The squirrels and armadillos are much safer now but it was definitely that time.

On a better note, household is better today, no tears or sadness just funny stories about her. We watched some old videos of when our daughter and Snookie were babies, sucks they don't live as long as us but glad for the joy they bring while they are here.

Last night it was pointed out to me that Snookie was born on our daughter's actual birthday, meaning the day she was born. Snooki's sire was born on my birthday in 2000, and her grandsire was born on my old man's bday in 1995. Kinda weird coincidences.

All of the hate on the OB for bulldogs has me missing Snooki today. She was such a good dog like her daddy. They say you only get one good dog in your life and we have been fortunate enough to get 3.

Miss that goofy old girl.

I had also forgotten that as well as being a fierce defender of our home and family, Snooki was also the protector of Thanksgiving turkeys lol. Every year she sat patiently by the smoker until it was scraps time!

couple years ago we lost our dog, he was 14. Kids were 20 and 16. Apart from missing the dog, etc, to me the saddest part was the season that it represented having him in our family. All of the memories with the kids for the time we were raising them was with that dog. I never, ever expected it to hurt that bad, for all those reasons.

Swore no more. That lasted a couple months. Our vet's wife raises Malteses and my wife said just go look at one. Well you know how that goes.

And PSA, if you want a smaller inside dog, the Maltese is just absolutey the best.
