I think I found a solution. He's been hanging out in our yard for two days and I haven't seen any squirrels on our bird feeders.

Moved from Aledo to Sandpoint Idaho last year and it is crazy how many Eagles you see up here. Did the 2 hour cruise on Lake Coeur d'Alene and we saw so many in trees it reminder me of old cartons where the buzzards were in the trees waiting for dinner to arrive. I was fishing last week on a slough and there were 3 of them 100 yards down on the ground just hanging out.

But do you see any birds on your bird feeder? Probably not with that guy hanging around

Fish hawks are squirrel hawks too! Never knew. My brother lived in Katy and had some nice oaks in his back yard and a couple of bird feeders. His method was a pellet rifle. One year he got like 250 or some number like that.

Grandpa just used an old extension cord. Cut the female plug end off, stripped the wires, twisted them together, ran it out the window, and ran the bare wire across the perch on the feeder. Plug it in for just a jif when a squirrel was on the perch.

The eagle is cool too, though.

We have Red Shouldered Hawks that take turns hanging out on our back fence and in our trees. I'm shocked at how little attention they pay to the squirrels that scurry around within a few yards of them. I keep watching in hopes one will finally Find Out.

Sweet - did you purchase from Amazon or a local store? I'd like to pick up a couple myself.

one way to keep any kind of animal away from something is just spray the device with chemicals like roach / wasp spray, bug spray, poison, tree poison, etc, animals do not like chemicals.

my mom had those birds building mud nest under the porch, we tried all kind of stuff to keep them out. 2 months ago i washed the nest away with a water hose and then sprayed the nesting area with wasp spray and WD40, what ever you have. they took off and have not come back, they dont like chemicals of any type

I know what ur saying but everything is a chemical/has chemistry . Food, water , & what they/we breathe …. All chemicals. Foreign chemicals not common to the local environment ….. yes that would probably dissuade local wildlife .
