My normal outfit isn't working out this year. Everywhere I call (per googling) only does corporate, club memberships, or sells a package of hunts.

Does anyone have a teal guide or outfit they would recommend? Just trying to take the kids and a couple of buddies out.

Duman here (Casey) used to guide for Wgohunt, not sure if he still does anymore or not.

I guide duck hunts on public lands on the bay and marsh.

I have a duck blind boat and yall can stay dry and comfy. We can hunt right out of the boat.

If the ducks are in I'm happy to get yall out for a hunt. If the ducks aren't in then I will advise you of that too.

That's awesome. What bay system are you hunting? Do you get a good mixed bag?

Teal season can be hit or miss. When it is on its great.

Regular season is usually on the open bay and gets better and better later in the season. We are usually targeting redheads and scaup....with pintail, bufflehead, gadwall, widgeon, goldeneye, etc mixed in. Spoonies and mergansers too but I usually call those out to NOT shoot unless you actually like em...

I also trailer down to Rockport a lot during duck season. My boat blind is a home run down there. Having a few thousand birds land in your decoys is a sight.

WTH I thought teal season was 3 weekends and 2 weeks in between. Or am I old and forgetful?

Funny story from back when teal limit was 4 birds. Local game warden went with a guy hunting my pond. Just after legal shooting time, a big flock comes in and the GW shoots 3 times and drops birds. Guy's lab brings back 6 teal. GW says hey you got two. Other guy hadn't fired a shot but grinned and said ok.

Changed it this year with low BWT numbers.

I don't like that. Depending on the full moon and weather to bring them in a 9 day season sucks. I would rather the bag limit would be reduced back to 4.

True but how would you feel about paying $200-300 for just 4 teal and how that would / wouldn't impact guide rates and ultimately teal harvested during early teal. Wonder if they considered that when deciding if to shorten the season of the bag limit. Probably not…but curious.

Guess from a hunter perspective depends if your paying or have your own place.

They don't and never should take "feelings" into account.

They take nest/brood numbers, calculate hunt take, look at measures for breeding in the next year and figure out if the population is going to be significantly affected by the length of season or bag limit.

They have some measure for estimating number of hunters, but it doesn't drill down into guys with land/leases V guided hunts and those costs.
