all knowing OB,
my son is a sophomore in HS and is planning on starting his HS fishing team. One of the tournaments is at Lake Limestone.
We live in Humble. Mostly fish Fayette and Conroe with some Rayburn and Toledo mixed in. Never been on Limestone.
From what I can tell there is a lot of timber so I'm looking for input on 2 things:
1) any advice on navigating the lake?
2) thinking of hiring a guide simply to get in my boat and navigate around the lake. any guides you think might do this?

TIA

Trip. I've got a couple of guys with our boats that live over there. I'll reach out to them and see what they got up.

I'll take you around the lake. My boat or yours?

Also, does he need a place to stay. Have a Lakehouse we Airbnb out.

My navigation advice is to trim it high and let it fly.

And have good insurance

What trail are y'all fishing? My son is fishing the Central Texas High School Tournament Trail and our first stop is Limestone on Sept 7.

I took him and his partner out last Sunday and we got skunked. We tried Carolina rigs, Texas rig, swim baits, dropshot, and wacky and only got two bites all day.

We fishing main points, docks, and bulkheads. Should have tried the standing timber, but the amount of standing timber is a little overwhelming.

We didn't go into the North end of the lake due to fear of losing my lower unit!

Limestone is a tough bass lake, especially this time of year. There used to be tons of hydrilla, grass, and lily pads but they have all been removed by the BRA and it made fishing tough. You need good electronics to find brush piles and some drop offs.

Great for white bass and crappie…

I think I have caught 1 bass there, and it was 3 clicks off the bottom on a minnow while crappie fishing.

How do I get in touch with you about the Airbnb?

Gunny has me set up with another Ag that I'm talking with in a few about getting around the lake. If that falls thru I might ask for your help there.

thanks!!

this will be part of THSBA and our division will be the bayou division since we're in Humble. Tournament there isn't until mid October.

Good deal. I'll let you guys know where not to fish after we finish the tourney there on Sept 7. Should still be outside the information window for you. lol.

October will be much better fishing conditions depending on water level of course. My favorite fall bait is a black and blue jig with a trailer
