Looking to have my Remington 700 CDL in .270 threaded for a muzzle brake and suppressor. It's somewhat complicated since it's a sporter barrel and it'll need to have a 5/8" x 24 threads and there's not much meat for a shoulder. I've done a little research to see if it's possible, and it is, but I want to ensure that it's done correctly.

This is what I'm looking to have done.

Does anybody have a good recommendation up this way? Closer to Grapevine/Colleyville would be ideal, but I'm willing to go a little further out for a good gunsmith.

That looks pretty good! I may take you up on that. What's the best way to contact you off Texags?

The one recommended guy around here that I called gave some other way of doing it. I think with 1/2" threads then putting an adapter that allows for 5/8", but I'm wanting what you just did and what I posted. I think it looks cleaner and works better. Cause my goal is to have a muzzle brake (currently 5/8") that allows for a quick-connect suppressor that I have in my trust.

I'd steer clear of adapters. The reason I started doing these was because of a gentleman here in Shiner that put an adapter on his Winchester using the factory BOSS threads. The adapter introduced angular deflection / misalignment which he didn't notice. It became apparent when his 300 win mag blew his suppressor 40 yards down range! I've done several since. Fun project.

I have used Cajun Gunworks in Plano a couple of times. They were great and will use again

I know it might sound crazy, but Scheel's does a great job. I've had 4 rifles threaded, including 2 with the Shoulder taper to match the Q Cherry Bomb brake. Heavy barrels and sporter. 1/2x28 and 5/8x24.

Relatively quick turn around. Friendly.

Awesome, not too far from work. Going to need to pick up some OT in the near future.
