First time in 38 years that I won't be in a tree waiting for the sun to come up. Got several bulging discs in my neck and one is pinching the nerves going to my shoulder. Waiting for pain management to schedule the injections in my neck so I can resume life with no pain.
Headed to the stand in the morning. I've got a big bachelor group hitting the feeder around 7:45-8:30. Trying to get better eyes on what we actually have.

Checking in from San Saba county. Was 53 degrees on the truck heading to the stand. Dang west wind gonna screw with me though.

still and 58 degrees here north of Coleman this morning. I have lots of deer come through already. It was refreshing hearing some quail this morning as it was breaking light.

I shot a pig and filmed the old buck I was trying to get my friends daughter on - of course he came to my stand instead of the one they were in.
Wind killed my Sunday afternoon sit so I pulled an audible and sat in a rifle blind to scout

Saturday was slow in Fayette county for me, had a small 8 point come in, then a big pig ran him off and trashed my feed pen for an hour. Held off shooting him (I run lit nocks and was afraid of leaving a glowing arrow out there) because I had a big 10 coming in regularly.
Saturday PM was more of the same, just with more sweat, that little 8 pt and a crab claw 10 put me to bed in that blind, couldn't leave it until 8:45 after they cleared out.
Low pressure approach paid dividends Sunday morning, the little 8 was there before first light and feeding calm as could be. 7:20 this guy stepped out, hopped in the feed pen, and looked away from me slightly quartering away at 25 yds. Sent one through his heart, he didn't make it 20 yards! Biggest bow buck to date. 148" with nearly 19" spread and 22+" beams.

nothing for me in Wimberley. Weeks worth of corn sitting on the ground and acorns everywhere.
Not bad for a duck hunter…
That's a good Fayette county deer. Wow. What part of the county?
