Any recs out there for small engine repair in the Cypress area? Cleaned carb, replaced spark plug, air filter, ethanol free fuel and motor still revving up and down.

This stuff should fix it if it's fuel.

Put 2-6 oz in tank. Let it run 10 minutes. Let it set overnight. Repeat for 1 or 2 more days. Then run all of that gas out. Don't let it sit in mower for extended time.

The auto choke sometimes goes bad. I think it's a wax type piece.

Before you take it in, look at Chickanic on YT. She does small engine repair and is bound to have had something with similar symptoms.

Does it have a manual choke? If so, closing the choke too fast can cause governor to surge.

I was having a surging and die issue with my Honda HRX217 that I have had for ten years with out an issue. Replaced the $12 "fuel filter" in the line from the tank and flushed out the dirt and debris in the tank. Solved the problem. Runs like brand new.
