Hello All,
I am sharing information about hunts managed by a Christian non-profit organization. They conduct some amazing Parent/Youth hunts on very nice ranches throughout Texas. Lodging and meals are provided. Most of these hunts involve harvesting of whitetail does and hogs with an occasional exotic or cull buck added in (based on landowner preference). The hunts are very well managed with a high emphasis placed on safety and an appropriate number of guides to ensure things run smoothly. Every parent/youth group will hunt with a guide in the blind regardless of experience level. Only the youth will be shooting, but it is a very full fun weekend for everyone, including parents. The hunts are very turn-key, and while no experience is required, youth will need to demonstrate knowledge and proficiency with the rifle in advance of going out into the field. Guns can be provided if needed. Guides and leaders are there to assist and/or teach participants how to process the animals for transport home after the hunt.
The goal of the hunts is to help children and their parents engage in the sport of hunting in a safe and welcoming environment. As a Christian ministry, there are codes of conduct enforced that ensure safety and an environment where everyone feels comfortable. There are short, informal, non-denominational devotionals 2-3 times over the course of the weekend. We have been on a couple of their hunts. We all have a great time and are very well taken care of. My son and daughter have both come away having had a great experience. My daughter (first-time hunter) cannot wait to go back. If you want to get out hunting with the kids in a fun safe environment, these hunts would be an excellent place to start. I have been hunting for over 50 years, and have been extremely impressed with the way these hunts are conducted.
The all in cost for two nights' lodging and meals, harvesting an animal (or two depending on the ranch) is less than $800 all in.
If you would like more information, please contact me. I would love to talk with you about this organization and the hunts.
