Popped up this morning.
Don't think it's a bobcat, too long of a tail.

Its face/head looks odd from this angle. Doesn't look like a house cat to me. I googled it and jaguarundi popped up, but supposedly those are extinct.

In South Texas, that's an Ocelot. Everywhere else it's just a house cat.

Unless you're in East Texas, that is.

Yes, I'm sure that is NOT a jaguarundi.

If OP had been from the area where they are found, this being the OB, he would have asked if it was a jaguarundi to begin with, not just simply "what is this?".


The only logical conclusion any OBer would come to if anywhere near that area!

I was just giving you hard time because normally south Texas guys would say Jaguarundi vs Ocelot but I have heard both. I had a guy show me a picture of a bobcat and swore it was an Ocelot. This was also just north of Beaumont lol

Should have clarified, I read Jaguarundis still exist in Mexico, but are extinct in Texas.

TPWD may think they are extinct in Texas, but I believe there are a few ranches down close to the Rio Grande that have them.

Nobody wants any governmental organization telling them how to use their land because they have them there.

There are absolutely jaguarundi in south Texas, particularly on the King, Kenedy, East and yturria ranches.
