Have some in the attic. Best way to exterminate?

tag-15: Howdy, prior to Hurricane Harvey, think it was 2015, we had been in Rockport for two years after leaving Midland. All of a sudden on day, noise in the attic. Go up and find droppings and chewed up stuff every where, YUCK! Tried a bunch of stuff, but when we got these problem solved. On Amazon it is Victor
M241B Indoor Electronic Rat Trap, Humane Electric Rat Traps Indoor for Home, No Touch, No See Traps. These things work or did in 2015. Couple of times it hit the rat so hard it blew all the fur off, kinda sick, but DEAD rat. Had every even tiny openings sealed. Have had no further problems.

I used a similar electronic trap several years ago. They are effective. Glue traps work well also, but you have to kill them after you catch them which isn't ideal for an attic situation.

We had a service come out to deal with them in our attic at our old house in west Houston. They placed about 6-8 large snap traps and baited them with peanut butter and I believe tuna. They went around the outside of the house and sealed every potential entry point they could find. They came out about every 3 days for 2 weeks to check the traps and remove dead rats. We ended up having about 8 rats that they caught. Very painless for us. We had to redo it a couple of summers later because one of the closed entry points got reopened when we had a new roof put on. They caught three that time and nothing in several years after that point before we sold the house.
