My son drew antlerless hunt for Daughtry. So not chasing the big bucks, just want best chance to see a doe. Anyone have experience with there that could advise on how to rank units?

Typically I would say pick one on the river but I am not sure there is even water there right now. A few years ago my niece got drawn for a hog hunt and she got a compartment over by the 99 boat ramp. It rained 4" that weekend and we basically could not get around anywhere and only saw one doe and fawn.......I'd kill for a rain like that again.

I'm headed over there this weekend and if I get time I will try to do a little scouting for you.

I hunted compartment 2 many years ago and got a doe.

My kids got first compartment pick for a javelina/hog hunt years ago and selected 5 based on the biologist's recommendation (it was Sam at the time). It was right on the river and we saw deer. But as mentioned above, there is little or no river left.

My guess is that for a doe practically any compartment will do, especially once you get corn on the ground. You son should be able to get a shot at a doe and at least one hog during this hunt.

ETA,
My son hunted 10 for hogs as well. Again, we saw plenty of deer. It is ideal for corning multiple senderos and being mobile, shooting off sticks (if that works for your son, of course). Do keep in mind that compartments 9 and 10 are a bit of a drive from the other compartments that are located at headquarters. Sam was good about allowing us to check in and out via text as opposed to having to physically do so at HQ when we hunted 10.

ended up having to haul a trailer this weekend so I didnt get to cruise around any of the state parks.

I agree with SAAg and believe as long as you get corn down you will be able to get a shot on a doe. If you get a compartment with an actual blind give it a shot. If you get an open box blind I would suggest a pop up or brush blind instead. A few years ago my niece got drawn at the Chap and the first 2-3 sits we tried the box blind and only saw a 1-2 does. After moving to a pop up right next to the blind we ended up seeing 5x more deer and on the last night she ended up getting a really nice buck. Out of 7 sits we logged just under 28 hours of hunting and she got her buck in the last 10 minutes of shooting light.
