Bare with me...

My gas grill went keput. I like the convenience of a gas grill - light it, get ready, walk out and your cooking.

I have a pit. I'd like to be able to set in a gas grill with heat reflectors in it. That way I have my grill that I can move when I want to Q. Seems like a simple concept, but a search finds nothing.

Anyone seen or heard of such a thing?

Several years ago I built an outdoor kitchen set up for a guy in Houston, one of the things he wanted was a gas grill to match his smoker. I bought a gas grill and took it apart and used the insides and the control panel and built an enclosure for it to sit into. You might try and go that route

Yah... my fabrication skills aren't great. Seems like there should be something already ready made for this.

Probably don't exist because it sounds good in theory but would be a pain in the neck in practice. I'm a fan of dedicated things. If you have a good pit, get a good gas to go with it or, if I may suggest, get a ceramic cooker to go with the pit. They are very quick to get going if you use a pear burner AND there aren't any parts or wear out on it so it doesn't die unless you break it. I know that's not what you're asking about but it wouldn't be texags if someone didn't offer a wild tangent suggestion. Good luck on the search or fab though.
