My mom and niece encountered a whole group of these in Galveston. In all my years of living on the coast I never saw any like this, and neither had my mom.

Pretty little critters!

Who knows the name of this creature? No cheating and using Google Image Search.

I think so. They're colonies in a single group that resemble jellyfish and also sting but are not the same

Agreed. I saw one swimming one time and it looked like a vagina came detached and was swimming out to sea.

I didn't know they can sting. I've picked a few up and never felt anything. They might have been dead, though. They're very fragile so I quit picking them up.
