This is going to be a fun post for me. Two weekends ago we filmed another show in Louisiana and I invited Ashley Bunting (a C-6 quad from New Mexico) to come down because I wanted to see if she could be my next cohost for Able Outdoors.
Well, she and her mom Dana got to Crowley about 1am on Wednesday night and we were scheduled to go bay fishing on Thursday afternoon.
The next morning I gave a crash course on how to cast a rod & reel by taping the rod to her hand and then how to wingshoot by using my trigger pull device and chest straps.
She started out barely being able to cast her bait 10 feet. An hour later she was casting on her own and hitting the 30 yd mark. She also fought and hauled in 3 keeper reds! By herself.
A shoutout to Seatec Outfitters for giving us these supercool fishing shirt for our trip.
Ashley struggled to lift the gun and be able to pull the trigger, but by the second morning she was using the zero gravity rig and getting really close to being able to hit a bird.
I've never seen anyone make so much progress so quickly. Can't wait to watch her journey continue.
