San Saba County this afternoon. A little action at the feeder, but this guy is providing quite the show.

Very long tail says Accipiter so will go with Cooper's Hawk.

Not so sure about a Coopers.

A little blurry but Northern Harrier is my best guess.

Sorry about the blurry pics. Weather was garbage yesterday. Hail, thunderstorms, and everything in between.

I get it. Phones can only do so much with wildlife shots unless conditions are perfect. I zoomed in on the 1st two pics and going with Northern Harrier because tail is longer with what looks like 5-6 thicker, dark bands and the white part of the feather near the rump. In flight, Harriers have a distinct white patch at the top of the tail, but it is hard to see from the side. An adult gray color phase is also common, and they are generally the same height as red-tailed but a little more slender in appearance.

While the dark immature red-tailed Hawks are similar in color and front markings the tail has a shorter appearance and 10+ thin bands with little more, if anyone white near the rump.

Interestingly, I found a beautiful red tailed hawk feather yesterday in the pasture. Such a pretty bird.
