Howdy Ags,

Need some help please to assist some relatives who are looking to off load a quarter section in Ector County. They own the mineral rights and are willing to sell those also.

Land is surrounded on all sides by land owned by Occidental - so I figured it makes the most sense to sell it to them.

Does anybody have a contact who could help?

Might cross post to B and I if y'all think I should

ETA: How do we figure out what the dirt is worth and what the minerals are worth?

Occidental has been selling off assets in the Permian basin so double check they still own the surrounding land

Somebody at Sotheby's just checked yesterday but I don't know if they were right

I appreciate your response!

I have a contact for an employee of Occidental Chemical, which owns farm Land close to ours in SE Tx.
Iirc, they acquired title to the land when Occidental Chemical bought out Diamond Shamrock years ago.

But I have no idea if they are related to Occidental Petroleum you posted. Maybe check the county tax records for that tract.

Oxy has sold OxyChem just this year. It hasn't been finalized yet but it will be. More or less two separate companies.

Try asking here.

Also, I would list it on the market to get the highest price. Why pick one buyer just because they are next door especially if it is a corporation?

I asked a few people i know that deal with land for O&G. They said to call the main line and ask to speak to their land department.

Thank you everyone!

I think they make the most sense because it's landlocked by them, unfortunately

I work for a mineral and royalty buying group and would be happy to take a look, I'd try to find at least a couple of groups to compare offers before you take what Oxy might offer. Operators generally don't value minerals the same way we would.
