I read somewhere that the 'Almanac' is about 50% correct w/their predictions.
Pretty sure it gained lots of popularity in 1816 after an accidental mistaken forecast of rain, hail, and snow in July issue was released. They recalled them all and replaced them, but news had already spread. The new company was likely quite concerned until July that year brought rain, hail, and snow in New England and Canada.
