Might have an opportunity to get a young steer from a place in Hearne. Curious where I could take said steer in the area to have butchered up?

Never done this before

Just watch some you tube videos and do it your self!

Jk, my uncle uses a Mennonite farm by his house in Missouri. Unfortunately no mennonites in the BCS area.

I already do a hack job when it comes to butchering deer so I'm gonna leave this one to the pros

There's a place in Madisonville that we used in the past, but the name escapes me.

K&C in Navasota is where we take our lambs to.

We normally go to Dimebox Meat Market. Been using them for about 10 years for cattle and a few pigs.

Theiss Sausage Company in Normangee did a great job also. Really liked the cuts, packaging, etc. Only thing we didn't like was they packaged ground beef in 1.5# chubs and wouldn't change that.

Jarrett's in Madisonville is where I'd take it.

We use K&C in Navasota for our butcher steers. They do a good job.

I too give a thumbs up to Theiss in Normangee. Wherever you decide to take the steer, I recommend calling well in advance and making a "reservation ".

Jarrett's is good. They have had a pretty long wait time the last couple times I've used them. Would definitely check in advance with any place you decide to use

I have heard of several places making you get a reservation to drop one off.....I'd call before pulling up with one.

Anyone used one of the "mobile/we come to you" operations?
One of the Prause's from the now-closed LaGrange Meat Market operates this one.

Do any of those places ask where you got the steer?

Oh and is cattle rustling still a hangable offense?

Asking for a friend.

Readfield's in Bryan? There used to be Hanson's in Hearne but that was a long time ago. Hearne isn't the same as when I was born there.....

Hanson's? That indeed was a VERY long time ago.

Readfield's still does deer processing, but I'm assuming you bring in your quartered deer.

Does the meat science lab at TAMU take them? Worth a call.

Make sure the butcher has space. The two back home in Muenster tend to be booked out for a year.

Theiss in Normangee is who we use for our annual beef processing. But they are shut down during deer season. Books don't open again until January 1.

If you need it done during that time, go to Jarrets in Madisonville

Not sure if they do but I know College Station High School did a lamb for me and a steer for a buddy. They have to have it killed at one of the processors but will cut and package it for you. You just pay for the packaging supplies.
