A good roof so you can hunt the duck nastiest of weather. And so you're ratard friends wont spook the birds by looking up.
A non skid floor that also easily lets mud and water out.
Tons of brush. If you think you have enough, add more. Then add some more. Anyone that breaks down said brush because "I cant shoot", gets placed on the upwind end of the blind where they wont have to worry about shooting. Local brush is best. If not, use a minimum of three different types of brush. I usually use whole cedar elms in the 6-8ft size and then fill in with river cane and willow limbs. When you're done, wrap the whole thing tight with heavy tarred trotline string to hold it all in place.
Place it in shade, if possible. Place it facing west if possible. Place it facing the direction the birds usually come from.
Dont let people tromp down the grass in the first five yards in front of the blind. If they wont listen, a short hog wire fence that will trip them in the dark works as a good reminder.
