Trying to find out of this is legal? If so, anyone have any experience there they would share?

Not legal. You could possibly get away with hunting up the river but if you piss off a landowner up there they could easily have you because of where your shot would be landing. The river is so skinny up that way there's no way you could make a shot without it landing on someone's property. I'm probably not explaining all this in the correct terms but that's the simple gist of it. I spoke with the game warden for that area about all of this in depth a few years ago.

I would think you could hunt the concho and Colorado, not sure about the lake body, but haven't ever heard of anyone hunting it, so I'm pretty sure it's a no-go. CRMWD owns land and does deer hunts on their property through an application process.

I've been deer hunting in the area when duck hunters are set up on nearby ponds. Their hunts are usually over the first 20 minutes of legal shooting light.

If you have private land to hunt close to the lake it's usually a great shoot and always a nice mixed bag. We have killed all sorts of ducks and even snows and specks when we hunt out that way on a buddies place on the concho.

I was up on Ivie a few years ago in winter and never seen so many quackers, of all species, including a rare Eurasian Wigeon. Those ducks must know the lake is a refuge i.e. no hunting. Good for them. And no, I am not anti-duck hunting. Killed many of those ducks in my younger working days in SE Texas, J.D. Murphree WMA at Port Arthur. Memory is a wonderful thing and thank the Lord above that I still have some.
