Supposed to go to the ranch tomorrow, and have a hunt in 3 weeks… should I get the strings replaced? Or just get the serving patched and re string when I get back from Arizona? Really don't want to get new strings right now if I don't have to

At a 15# draw you're probably golden brother.






If it were me, I'd get it replaced and avoid the worry of a catastrophic failure on a hunt.

I'm going to call a couple places and see if they have strings in stock… main reason I don't want to re string is I'm not trying to break new strings in and potentially re sight in bow this close to go time… I've got my setup dialed perfectly.

I just got these strings like in march of this year lol

I've got just under 3000 arrows through these strings since 6/1… maybe another 1000 on them before I started counting in June

I'm no expert on string/cable longevity with serving separation but, you might be able to survive depending on conditions and how many times you draw. You're likely on the edge of being out of time or other performance issues.

If it were mine, I'd try to make the weekend but I'd have new strings on before AZ. I'm an ABB fan and they have a 2 year warranty on serving separation. They can also get sets out pretty quickly.

As a former loan officer, this completely lines up with the "need new tires, bought a new truck" line of reasoning for vehicle loans.

I don't really see any wear on the strings themselves. Just the serving. I think you are fine to hunt.

ABB can get them out but I haven't had the best luck w their stuff. GAS is 2-3 weeks. The strings that I currently have (Hoss) are also 2-3 weeks out. Don't know that I'd order another set of Hoss though…these barely made it 6 months and as soon as I told them someone else installed them Hoss basically said "it's the installers fault", and downplayed any chance of it being a quality anomaly

I did ABB strings two years ago for an old Hoyt spyder bow. They have been just fine and kill deer. It was middle of season so $100 for strings and 100 to overnight….

If they wouldn't have had limbs in stock I would have left with a new bow. Didn't have the right color but better than nothing. They said the strings were fine for now, I can get by till after my hunt.

Went ahead and ordered a new set to have on hand in case something happens in Az I at least have the strings.

Now you have a custom bow with the earth riser and camo limbs…folks wait an extra 2-4 months for that versus buying what a store has in stock.
