Looking for queen sized air mattress for extra bed during holiday overflow. Lot's of choices on Amazon. Any recs on what's good or what to avoid?

Seriously, I slept on one of those cots for 6 months while our house was being built. I can't do more than 4 hours on an air mattress.

Buy 2 walmart twins and push them together. None of them last, so buy cheap and invest in ibuprofen. When you buy two small ones, it is easier to replace one when it inevitably dies. And buy the electric pump.

My wife bought a tri fold mattress on Amazon. We don't need to transport it anywhere and we have the closet space. Million times better than an air mattress.

I think any air mattress is not a great choice for two adults. But for one you can make it work. If going the full sized route we have some https://www.aerobed.com/. That we hide when the kids have spend the nighters. These have held up over the years even with kids jumping on them. I would recommend getting one that has a quite "top off" pump feature, this way you don't wake up on the floor or as a taco.
If comfort is premium look at Exped. I have a couple of their higher end ones for car camping. I sleep well on these.

My recommendation is to only buy twin air mattresses. Two people on a full/queen is not comfortable, you feel every movement.

This is the one we have and it works well. Only $40 right now for the twin. Good value for something that won't be used often.

Be sure you read the instructions on how the valves need to be turned.

I'm old and prefer cots. It's just darn hard to crawl off the floor.
If it's for kiddos not an issue. I have a Coleman I'll take with on hunts and such, just to make sure I have good place to sleep.
