This poor guy either died from the freezing temps several days ago or he fell out of an airplane. Just a strange place to pass.

El Paisano for the win!

Seen lizards and insects of all kinds pushed onto limbs, cactus thorns, and even barbed wire fences.....let 'em hang an dry out a bit.

I saw a buzzard carry off a possum from the road today in Iola and clipped the barbed wire fence and the possum carcus got stuck on the top strand. Drove back by a couple hours later and it was still hanging there. I'm sure the land owner is going to be wondering the same thing!

Walking the dog with my wife one morning. She goes "oh, look those 2 birds are doing the hibbity dibbity on the ground". I looked closer and said "I don't think the bird on the bottom is having very much fun". She said "that's usually how it goes".
Then we watched as the Shrike delivered a killing blow to a Wren, walked around it as if evaluating it then grabbed it and flew off with it. My wife was traumatized. What she thought was a little bit of bird porn, ended up being a snuff flick.

When we were kids, my brothers and I used to wonder how unlucky those grasshoppers were to have hit the barb wire at just the right/wrong angle to impale themselves.

Wasn't until years later we learned about shrikes, pretty neat birds.
