Dogs got into my medicine

I have to give myself a Vitamin B12 injection every two weeks. The pharmacy delivered my next two injections (two vials sof Vitamin B12, two syringes, and four needles) to the office and set them on the big table. We have four dogs at the office belonging to my nephew and his friends. Three of those dogs really need training, but whenever I bring it up, my nephew just gets mad about it.

They jumped up on the table and got the delivery and chewed it up. I found the two vials of Vitamin B12, one of which looks like it might be okay, the two badly mangled syringes, and two of the four needles. I guess they must have swallowed the other two needles.

They have a cap over the needles so if the dogs did swallow them, they shouldn't get stuck by the needles. I am a bit concerned, though, about whether or not the hard plastic might perforate their intestines.

Does anyone have an idea what the odds of the dogs being able to pass the needles without damage?

At least they didn't get into my Eliquis blood thinner pills. I imagine those would kill them pretty quickly.

Sounds like your nephew and his friends are going to learn why you should train/discipline your dogs - hopefully without a dog dying. It sounds like he/they need this type of lesson….

How big are the dogs and needles? I also would not assume the caps were not chewed off.

An X-ray would be able to tell quickly if they ate them.

One of the dogs ate a German Chocolate Cake last summer and quite a few donuts in the past few months. He got to the cake before any of us got a bite of it.

The three dogs that refuse to behave also ate a pumpkin pie and a pecan pie just before Thanksgiving. At least we had gotten one slice of the pumpkin pie and two slices of the pecan pie.

I'm mot sure what else they finished off, but I know it is more than the cake, pies, and donuts.

I'm doing my best to enforce a ban on dogs in the kitchen. However, the donuts and my medicine were on the conference table, not in the kitchen.

I think that the metal part of the needles is an inch long. Including the plastic cap, and the plastic base where the needle attaches to the syringe, they are two inches long.

The dogs are about medium sized or maybe a bit smaller. I don't know what kind they are.

The interesting thing to me is that the one dog that behaves well was one my nephew got from the pound. That's the most calm dog I have seen in a long time.

The other three dogs are a female and two of her pups. I think it is the pups getting onto the tables.

Thanks.

I'll suggest that to my nephew.

If they were swallowed whole, there is a good chance they would get passed intact within 24 hours at most. If they had just swallowed them, you could have possibly forced vomiting but after an unknown number of hours the chances of success at that is low.

What a pita. I always board my dogs when I visit family to avoid this stuff. My lab ate a Mach3 razor when he was about 2. I only found one of the 3 blades on the floor. He's 10 now so I guess it worked itself out.

A few years ago, one local woman would leave her dog, Willie, with me when she was gone.

I would take Willie on a walk of up to one to two miles about 3 am every morning and the dog loved it.

The first time she left him with me, she was surprised when she got back and Willie kept waking her up sometime between about 1 am and 4 am every morning to go on a walk. After a week or so, Willie gave up because she would ignore his efforts to get her to take him out for his morning walk.

About a month ago, the dogs pulled a large bag of small chocolate bars off of one woman's desk here. They ate the foil wrappers as well as the chocolate bars. Ever since, I have wondered how long it took before they crapped disco balls.

For what it's worth, I've been tempted to get a bag of some cheap dog food and fill their bowls every night and let them eat all they want in hopes that it would either reduce their desire to get food or make them so fat that they can't jump up on the tables. The only problem is one of the dogs (I don't know which one) has allergies to some dog foods and has to eat a special dog food and I have no idea which dog it is.

This puts a whole new meaning to "shaking like a dog sh*tting razor blades".

That I can remember dude never skipped a beat. Effing labs. He also regularly got into grapes, chocolate and aluminum foil and just moved on with his life. He's slightly more chill now that he's got gray hair

Last night my chocolate lab mix got into a bowl of cooked kale I had on top of the counter near the microwave. He ate very bit of it. Is there anything they won't eat?

Yes, uncooked kale.

Ours ate my daughter's leftover prosciutto and brie sandwich from Postino off the dinner table the other day. He is 10 but still utterly shameless. The farts afterward were spectacular.

They should be fine. My idiot golden once ate a whole Diet Coke can. We took her to the vet and he said that she'd be fine and that she'd pass it within 20-36 hours. Sure enough, her morning poop that morning was a big turdy wad of mangled aluminum. She never missed a beat.

Our beagle has a thing for holiday shenanigans. Last Thanksgiving she ate an entire tray of uncooked dough that was going to be dinner rolls. When she started throwing it up it was like a caterpillar of dough slowly crawling out. Spent the night at ER and cost $$$$

Last night my daughter couldn't go to Christmas Candlelight service with us due to fever. She called at the start of service in a panic. The beagle killed and swallowed a rat. I had to leave church to rush home. Vet said just watch her. Almost 24 hours later she has been 100% normal entire time. Begging for dinner 2 hours early today.

Crazy beagle!

Why do you keep allowing these dogs to be in your office and home?

Also sounds like this will solve itself. Don't want the dog to die from perforated gut though, that ain't a good way for a dog to die.

If it was up to me, they would be outdoors dogs.

For what it's worth, the dog that fell through the ceiling in my office on two occasions a year apart disappeared last New Years Eve (scared of fireworks) and hasn't been seen since.

By the sound of it, I don't think that dog actually has an allergy…. Seems just fine eating anything under the sun.

Family owned company and have to step lightly.

No dogs in the house.
