Help me pick a new spot for my feeder

This was my first year on a new lease. I planned on feeling things out this first year and adjusting once I got a better feel for things. I'm currently figuring out where I want to move things for next year. Biggest issue with the current set up is my feeder is out in the open and we pretty much had mostly south winds this year so I had awful winds. I didn't have near the numbers or variety of other members, but I'm on an outside corner of the lease. I'll mostly be bow hunting.

Legend for the pictures: Bottom waypoint is my spot, top is another lease member. Another member is on the other side of the creek about 600 yards away from my current set up. Green line is the property boundary and red X's are known stands that are hunted by the neighbors. Blue line is a creek that holds water. White is the main road 2 other hunters take to go to their stands and others would take if they wanted to go down to the creek mid-day. Dotted white line is the path I currently take to get to my spot. It ends at a rifle stand.

I've got a good idea of where I'd like to move, but curious of those with better knowledge of topo maps where they believe may be good spots. Not many big trees so I'll likely be in a pop up.

Welllll, my opinion is head up 287 till you get to Childress, take a right for 15 miles, and I'll meet you there, help you set it up on a nice spot we've picked out!

Hard to tell distance but Id want to be on the creek. Red mark is a feeder set up for rifle and archery. Green mark is archery setup at a pinch point between the high ground and creek. Should be a good trail there already.

We had way more south wind this year than normal but the fact is you really need options for north or south.

Couple issues with those. Green is on a pretty steep bank to the creek. I've only been over there once but it's probably 40-50 feet straight down right there. On the red arrow, this is how close I am to the other guy across the creek as it currently sits. On X has it as 560 yards. He's about as far north as he could be in his "spot" but there's a lot of undulation between us because of the creek. I'd like to move closer to the creek but not at the expense of getting too close to other guys.

Then maybe between the two? Around where the W is on the creek.

Yeah that's a possibility. I'm really looking for an area where I can get in and out without disturbing too much. My current set up I have to drive through some good country then walk right past the feeder to get to the stand. Need to find a way to quiet my 4-wheeler.

I'm hoping to get a few ideas for spots then ride around and pick the best one.

What's the name of the creek?

It has a lot of water in it for being near Brady!

Take a look at the OnX topo map and turn on the LIDAR layer. It's a detailed depiction of the surface that really helps find features that funnel animal movement.

No expert here…: but use game cams for your potential sites…. 4-6 cams in offseason depending on how often u will access the sites is a gold mine of knowledge

Best place to put a blind is where the biggest bucks go, I would use the suggestion from above, put out some game cams to see what's the best place, then you not just guessing. Sound input alvtimes. And that's assuming both spots are fairly readily accessible.

We hunted my grandfathers property that was 1250 acres for years. We had prob 12 blinds and feeders on average. Some of the biggest deer shot on that property were in the brush in very low deer traffic areas. They were boring feeders to sit at because you didn't see many deer compared to some of the other higher traffic areas. However, for what ever reason, the biggest bucks were shot in these low traffic areas. Have no clue why, I'm not that smart to figure that out. I personally liked the higher traffic blinds.. I also got my half crappy buck every year.

I agree. The biggest(oldest) bucks we ever get are rarely at feeders. As my grandfather used to say " They didn't get old and big from being stupid."
Same goes for older does as well. The smart ones learn over the years that bad things happen by feeders.
